Receptionist (All Shifts)

Key Role: First point of contact for patients & visitors
Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients, visitors, and staff courteously
  • Register patients (OPD/IPD) and schedule appointments
  • Coordinate with doctors/nursing staff for patient queries
  • Handle incoming calls & route them appropriately
  • Maintain front desk registers/logbooks
  • Ensure waiting areas are clean and organized
  • Coordinate shift handovers and update handover logs
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Assist with admission/discharge procedures
  • Handle emergency situations by alerting appropriate departments

Housekeeping In-Charge

Key Role: Ensures hospital cleanliness and hygiene
Responsibilities:

  • Supervise housekeeping staff across all areas
  • Allocate daily duties and maintain duty rosters
  • Monitor cleanliness of wards, OTs, toilets, ICU, etc.
  • Ensure use of proper disinfectants and cleaning agents
  • Conduct daily inspections and submit reports
  • Train staff on infection control practices
  • Ensure biomedical waste is handled correctly
  • Handle patient complaints related to cleanliness
  • Coordinate with nursing and maintenance departments

Billing Staff

Key Role: Handles patient financial transactions
Responsibilities:

  • Generate bills for outpatient and inpatient services
  • Coordinate with departments for service charges
  • Process insurance claims and documentation
  • Verify patient details and services rendered
  • Explain bills to patients and resolve billing queries
  • Maintain records of cash, card, and online transactions
  • Ensure accurate coding (ICD/CPT if applicable)
  • Submit billing summaries to accounts/admin

Sanitary Technician

Key Role: Manages sanitation and waste systems
Responsibilities:

  • Oversee drainage, toilets, and sanitation systems
  • Supervise disposal of solid and liquid waste
  • Ensure proper operation of sewage treatment plants (STPs)
  • Maintain logs of waste treatment and disposal
  • Monitor water quality (e.g., RO plants, water tanks)
  • Liaise with infection control team for protocols

Sweepers

Key Role: Daily cleaning and sanitation tasks
Responsibilities:

  • Clean hospital floors, walls, toilets, and premises
  • Follow color-coded cleaning protocols
  • Remove garbage and biomedical waste as per SOP
  • Refill handwash and sanitizers
  • Assist in minor shifting of items under supervision
  • Wear gloves, aprons, and masks during duty
  • Report any spills, breakages, or hazards to supervisor

Ambulance Driver

Key Role: Emergency transport of patients
Responsibilities:

  • Drive ambulance safely and promptly to assigned locations
  • Ensure vehicle is well-maintained and fueled
  • Check emergency equipment (oxygen, stretcher, first aid) daily
  • Assist paramedic/nurse in shifting patient during transport
  • Maintain logbook of trips and mileage
  • Follow traffic and emergency transport protocols

Paramedical Staff

Key Role: Clinical and diagnostic support to medical team
Includes: Technicians (Lab, X-Ray, ECG), OT Assistants, Dialysis Techs
Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for procedures
  • Operate diagnostic/therapeutic machines
  • Collect and label samples properly
  • Maintain instruments and sterilize equipment
  • Assist during surgeries or emergency care
  • Record observations and report to doctors
  • Maintain patient safety and comfort

CSSD Technicians

(Central Sterile Supply Department)
Key Role: Sterilization of hospital instruments
Responsibilities:

  • Receive used instruments from OT/Wards
  • Clean, disinfect, pack and sterilize using autoclaves
  • Maintain inventory of sterile and unsterile items
  • Follow infection control & sterilization protocols
  • Monitor temperature/pressure of sterilizers
  • Label and date sterilized kits
  • Record sterilization cycles and validation reports

Ward Assistants

Key Role: Support nursing staff in patient care
Responsibilities:

  • Assist in patient shifting (bed/wheelchair/stretchers)
  • Help patients with daily activities (eating, dressing)
  • Deliver samples/reports to/from labs
  • Keep ward area tidy and organized
  • Support during admissions and discharges
  • Replenish linen and assist in bed making

Ayahs

Key Role: Personal care for female patients, especially in maternity/paediatrics
Responsibilities:

  • Bathe, feed, and clean female patients or infants
  • Change diapers or soiled clothing
  • Provide emotional support to mothers
  • Assist in normal deliveries (under nurse supervision)
  • Clean labor room after use
  • Maintain patient dignity and hygiene

Male Nursing Assistants

Key Role: Support in clinical and non-clinical male patient care
Responsibilities:

  • Lift or move male patients for tests or surgery
  • Assist in catheterization, enemas, and hygiene
  • Shave patients pre-surgery
  • Reposition bedridden patients to prevent bedsores
  • Escort patients to diagnostic departments
  • Maintain discipline and hygiene in male wards

Public Relations Officer (PRO)

Key Role: Communication and coordination between hospital and public
Responsibilities:

  • Handle patient grievances and feedback
  • Coordinate VIP or corporate client visits
  • Communicate hospital updates, health camps, and services
  • Ensure good patient experience and satisfaction
  • Liaise with media, insurance agencies, and third-party administrators
  • Represent hospital in public health events and press
  • Organize community outreach programs

Maintenance Manager

Key Role: Supervision of hospital engineering & facility management
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure functioning of lifts, generators, AC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance checks
  • Attend to emergency breakdowns immediately
  • Maintain records of equipment servicing and AMCs
  • Coordinate with biomedical engineering and vendors
  • Ensure safety compliance in utilities
  • Supervise electricians, plumbers, and technicians

Physiotherapists

Key Role: Rehabilitation of patients post-surgery, injury, stroke, etc.
Responsibilities:

  • Assess physical condition and create treatment plans
  • Carry out physiotherapy sessions (manual, exercises, machines)
  • Educate patients on mobility and posture
  • Maintain patient progress records
  • Provide home exercise guidelines
  • Coordinate with doctors on therapy goals
