Types of Hospital Transportation

·       Internal or Intramural

o   Trolley System

§  A vehicle with a platform body having four small wheels of equal size, mounted underneath it

§  Minimum width should be 1.11 meters and landing are necessary for handling stretches in an emergency

§  Continuous hand railings on both sides at a height of 3ft

§  Surface should be non slippery

o   Ramps

§  Used in case of transporting stretcher patients

§  Have a gradient of 2.5 meters width

§  Should have a concrete railings at a height of 3ft

§  Floor of the ramp should have grooves perpendicular to the slope to avoid skidding

o   Stretcher

§  An apparatus used to move patients require medical care or injured

§  Can also be used to move the patients in Ambulance

§  Can be of folding or scoop type

§  Also used during search rescue

§  Having a seatbelt and mattress with itself to prevent patient fall in fast moving condition

§  Used as a means of transport of a person who is unable to walk because of

o   AMBULANCES

§  These are the specially equipped and designed vehicles used for the transportation of sick or injured peoples

§  They gives medical care to the patient during the shifting of a patient to the hospital to increase the chances of survival

·       Type A (Medical first responder)

·       Type B (Patient transport vehicle)

·       Type C (Basic life support)

·       Type D (Advanced life support)
