A drug store is a pharmacy shop where a pharmacist provides the pharmaceutical drugs, oversees the fulfillment of medical prescription and counsel the patient about the drugs, health problems & wellness issues.

Every person wants to see the growth of his business in a very short period of time, the site of a medical store plays a very important role in business growth and should be

  • In a thickly populated residential area
  • In a business locality
  • With a good availability of finance
  • In a developing area
  • Located near to a hospital's
  • And have a flow of traffic
  • With less number of competitor's

Premises for a drug store

It will be better to ensure the following precautions before occupying any premises for a new medical store
  • Notedown the date of occupancy
  • When to pay the rent instalments
  • Repairing of the premises
  • Comply with local rules & laws

Legal aspects of a Drug Store

  • Diploma/degree in pharmacy and must be registered with State Pharmacy Council.
  • Must have a minimum space of 10sq.meter for retail & 12sq.meter for wholesale drug store.
  • Sufficient number of racks to store drugs and refrigerator to store the medicines that required a temperature range of 2 to 8 degree Celsius.

Documents required to open a Drug Store

  • Application on (form 19 of the D&C rules 1945)
  • Fee of (Rupees 1500 to be deposited in SBI under specific head for grant of a sales license)
  • Attested Copy of (Diploma/degree, PCI Registration & Matriculation certificates, Aadhar, PAN& Residential proof, Partnership agreement)
  • Affidavit of (On a non-judicial stamp paper, attested by Magistrate and signed by each partner in case of partnership and by proprietor himself in case of self proprietorship)
  • Blue Print (layout plan of premises)
  • A receipt of (Rent receipt in case of rented space and electric bill in case of his own space)
  • Purchase Receipt of (Refrigerator)
