Data Vs Information

DATA Vs INFORMATION

Introduction

Data

  • Data refers to raw facts and figures without any context or meaning.
  • It is unprocessed and unorganized.
  • Examples: Numbers, symbols, names, dates.

Example
"120", "John", "85%", "2025-07-19" – All are data points unless context is added.

Information

  • Information is processed, organized, or structured data that has meaning and is useful for decision-making.
  • It adds context and relevance to data.

Example
"John scored 85% in the final exam held on 19th July 2025." – This is information because it conveys meaningful insight.
